Rez Abbasi Group

Performing original music influenced by western and eastern overtones, the Rez Abbasi Group will once again bring down the house. Considered to be "Probably the most underrated guitarist in town" by New York jazz critic David Adler , Abbasi's music utilizes a variety of textures including the use of his electric sitar guitar. Compositions such as "Hindu-Myth" (influenced by Paul Hindemith) or "Destiny Owes You", are brilliant examples of the kind of subtlety used by Abbasi to create a balance of hemispheres.

Performing in the group will be the up and coming tenor and soprano saxophonist Marc Mommaas as well as the formidable Adam Kolker on soprano sax and bass clarinet. Rounding out the rhythm section is the much in demand John Hebert on acoustic bass and the versatile Michael Sarin on drums.

As this group prepares for a new recording, there is another Abbasi CD due out early next year and will be prior CDs available at the show.
