Jazz industry press releases from around the world.  Your connection to what's happening.

The New Year finds award winning jazz guitarist, composer Lloyd Gregory's CD, Gentle Warrior, surging up the jazz indie and radio airplay charts with its first single "Haiti." January 9, 2012, Gentle Warrior jumped from 79 to 46 on the "SmoothJazz.com Current Top 50 Indie Chart." It moved from 23 to 18 on the "SmoothJazz.com Radar Chart." The album is on jazz icon Stanley Clarke's new label, Roxboro Entertainment Group, which is distributed by Bungalo Records division of Universal Music Group.

St. Louis, MO (13 December 2011): It began a decade ago when then 70 year-old Anita Berry became the first person ever to charter a full cruise ship to create The Jazz Cruise featuring over a dozen of the genres' grandest musicians. A St. Louis-based company, Jazz Cruises, LLC was also born and conceived the star-studded The Smooth Jazz Cruise in 2004 under the executive direction of Berry's son, Michael Lazaroff. With both cruises selling out annually, including a second week of The Smooth Jazz Cruise: The Greatest Party at Sea that was added this year, Jazz Cruises, LLC blossomed into the world's leading full ship music charter company. 2011 brought unprecedented growth for the company that evolved into Entertainment Cruise Productions, LLC, the new corporate moniker that reflects its diversification into music genres beyond jazz.

Project Grand Slam (PGS), the contemporary electric jazz group, has today released their version of the classic Hollies hit, "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother", with Special Guest Vocals by Joye Hennessey. The song is dedicated to the victims of child abuse, relating to the Penn State sexual abuse scandal.

Bangalore based jazz virtuoso Amit Heri recently set off the season at Jazz Inn, Cavelossim, with some absolutely smoking live jazz, along with local jazzmen Colin D'Cruz on fretless bass and Lester Godinho on drums. The Amit Heri trio made sure the venue lived up to it's name. Each and everyone in the full house made up of tourists from all over the world including a good amount of local jazz enthusiasts, were all in for a treat on par with any jazz club in the world.

Smooth jazz vocalist Tony Adamo grooves on this latest session with a mix of originals and favorite songs. “Cold Duck Time,” “Eleanor Rigby,” “The Way You Do the Things You Do “and Grover Washington Jr.’s “ Make Me a Memory” share the program with Adamo originals that carry plenty of swing along with lush harmony. He’s backed by ensembles that provide a keyboard-bass-drums-backup-singer kind of texture where a featured singer can push his message and know that his musical partners won’t miss a beat.

Woodward Avenue Records is pleased to announce the signing of double Grammy winner and guitarist, Paul Brown, for the recording of Paul’s new album entitled “The Funky Joint,” due to be released on Woodward in early 2012. Paul Brown also serves as producer (of course) on his new album, which includes appearances by Boney James, Euge Groove, Bob James, Bob Baldwin, Marco Basci and “The Producers” tour-mate, Darren Rahn. “This album allows Paul to unleash his musical roots and just let it rip” says Mark Nordman, President and CEO of Woodward Avenue Records, “while at the same time being true to the sound that has earned him over 50 # 1 Hits.”
