Announces the release of
The Roberto Magris Quintet New Cd “Morgan Rewind: A Tribute to Lee Morgan Vol. 1
Kansas City, Missouri, February 4, 2011- Jmood Records™ is pleased to announce the highly anticipated release of the Roberto Magris Quintet New Cd entitled Morgan Rewind: A Tribute to Lee Morgan Volume 1. This is Roberto Magris’ third successful release on Jmood Records, with a number of scheduled releases on the Jmood Record label. Jmood Records is located in one of the original homes of jazz, Kansas City, Missouri. This new Cd project contains the explosive drum work of jazz icon and legendary drummer Albert “Tootie” Heath (of the world famous Heath Brothers, Jimmy Heath, sax and the late Percy Heath, bass), Julliard jazz professor and international recording artist, Brandon Lee, Kansas City’s own international standout on alto sax and currently residing in New York City, Logan Richardson, returning on acoustic bass and Jmood Records international recording artist, Elisa Pruett.
“This is a “hot” and “exciting” new project”, says music impresario and Jmood Records producer Paul Collins, “each artist including, Roberto on piano contributed high energy and a fresh perspective you hear and feel in this music. Roberto with his amazing arrangements and stellar original material gives new life to the legendary and prolific jazz trumpeter, Lee Morgan also for a new generation of jazz aficionados. Also, an added value is the fact we have “Tootie” Heath on drums. Tootie and brothers lived and performed in Philadelphia during the same time Lee Morgan and his family lived there. Tootie brought history and a great spirit to Kansas City during the recordings. I really enjoyed all of his stories, the jazz perspective and legacy he brings to the music!”
Jmood Records and Roberto Magris, currently have several Cd recordings with outstanding reviews from the international jazz critics available and several on releasing, entitled; “Kansas City Outbound” with the late Art Davis, on acoustic bass, Jimmy “Junebug” Jackson, on drums and Zack Albetta, “Mating Call” with drum icon, Idris Muhammad, Michael O’Neill, tenor sax, Paul Carr, soprano and tenor sax, Elisa Pruett, on acoustic bass. Look for “One Night In With Hope and More Volume 1” to be released this summer 2011.
