New Jazz Spot in Wheaton, MD

Jazz comes to Wheaton, MD. Since May 6, 2006, many of the top jazz performers from the Washington, DC area have been performing in an intimate new setting--Sabang Indonesian Restaurant. Sabang has quietly celebrated a "birth of jazz in the burbs" with jazz artists ranging from jazz legend Buck Hill to new jazz sensations Jason Marshall and Alex Brown.

On Sunday, February 11, 2007, Sabang will celebrate Valentine's Day early with a JAZZ FOR LOVERS brunch buffet featuring Ron Kearns, saxes; John Jensen, trombone; Larry Brown, piano; Kent Miller, bass; Jerry Jones drums and Kim Mills, vocals. Sabang hopes that jazz lovers will come out to the brunch and be introduced to the Saturday night jazz series. The jazz series is sponsored by the Fish Middleton Jazz Scholarship Fund, the sponsors of the East Coast Jazz Festival (which will not be held this year). Many of the performers at Sabang have been headline acts at the annual jazz festival. Tickets and a complete schedule through May, 2007, may be found at www.instantseats.com. Performing Saturday, February 17, 2007 will be The Ron Kearns/Ron Elliston Sextet.
