Eric St-Laurent’s EPOCH and Gillian Margot’s A Pink-Filled Sky (Toronto November 3, 2010) The Gillian Margot Trio & Eric St-Laurent Trio will each be performing at Hugh’s Room on Tuesday, November 23rd to mark the release of their brand new albums, A Pink-Filled Sky & Epoch. A former member of the legendary Shuffle Demons, award-winner Eric St-Laurent has been featured on over 30 CDs. St-Laurent’s latest release, Epoch, features an intimate, uplifting sound based around his innovative guitar playing and impeccable soloing. His trio fuses world rhythms, jazz openness and blues sensibility to create a truly personal and refreshing voice. Fellow award-winner Gillian Margot ventures into exciting territory with her long-awaited debut album, A Pink-Filled Sky. In lieu of relying on jazz standards, Margot’s album consists primarily of original material; sultry and sometimes sorrowful narratives, creating a mood ripe with nostalgia. Featuring Jordan O’Connor on bass and Stu Harrison on piano, A Pink-Filled Sky straddles the line between traditional jazz and modern creativity. With a full, oaky voice and keen perception of harmony, Gillian Margot easily stands out from many of today's top vocalists. There’s an exciting new jazz movement in the air, and Eric St-Laurent & Gillian Margot are at the crux of it, bringing with them some of the finest underground talent the city has to offer.
