Summer jazz master classes- call for artists

Multidisciplinary Centre of Culture and Arts MCKA “Zatoka Sztuki” in Sopot, Poland announces a call for summer jazz workshop led by the faculty from renown School of Improvisational Music in Brooklyn, New York:

Ralph Alessi (trumpet) Ravi Coltrane (sax) Mark Helias (bass) Tyshawn Sorey (drums)

The workshop is open to apply for all jazz musicians and students who are willing to learn from one of the best jazz teachers in the world. Classes will be conducted in English.

MCKA Zatoka Sztuki (MCKA Bay of Art)

Bay of Art is located on white, beautiful, sandy beach just two minutes from lively promenade with its cafes, restaurants and clubs. Surrounded with quiet park from one side and the beach from the other it is a real retreat and provides stunning views of the Gdañsk Bay, Gdynia’s cliff and skyline of Gdañsk.

We open our building on 30th of June after the extensive reconstruction of old building from 1970’s. Bay of Art will be the biggest independent arts center in Poland with studios, residential programs and workshops for artists from many fields of arts ( visual, music, dance, performance etc).


Sopot is the most fashionable Polish seaside resort and it is called “the summer capital of Poland”. It has been a retreat for the rich and royal for centuries with its beautiful beaches, the longest Wooden Pier in Europe and posh resorts and spas.

It is the smallest of the Trójmiasto (Tricity), a real gem between Gdansk and Gdynia, just a few miles from each.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with 3 samples of your music attached (more info at the bottom of the application form) Deadline: June 20th 2011. The application must be filled in English. 2. The teachers will choose the students according to their skills and filled online application form. 3. After selecting about 26-27 students, the faculty will form four groups and each teacher will lead one group. You can suggest preferred teacher in the application form but we don’t guarantee that you will be chosen by the teacher. 4. The chosen students will be informed approximately two weeks after the deadline about their acceptance and will have to pay an enrollment fee of 500 € (50% of the workshop price) till 15.07.2011. The fee is not refundable. The rest of the money (500 € ) should be paid on the first day of workshop. 5. There will be a possibility to attend private, extra paid lessons with chosen teacher.
